Responsible Hospitality Edmonton gets grant City Council approved $35,000 be granted to Responsible Hospitality Edmonton to fund continuation of 3 to 4 temporary bathroom facilities for Jasper Avenue until the beginning of November 2012. Council approves development of draft speed reduction pilot project policy Council approved that draft policy be developed to enable neighbourhoods to apply to City Council for speed reduction options. Administration is currently working with the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues and local school boards to develop procedures for a Speed Reduction Pilot Project Policy.  Council honours City employees Council recognized 2 City of Edmonton employees for their leadership in empowering some of Edmonton’s inner city communities. Kris Andreychuck, a social worker and member of the City’s Neighbourhood Empowerment Team (NET), and Harry Oswin, Director of Neighbourhood and Community Recreation, were recently recognized as Men of Honour by the Centre to End all Sexual Exploitation, as those who act in meaningful ways to foster respect, encourage healthy relationships and create positive opportunities for people in Edmonton. Valley Zoo Vet recognized Dr. Milton Ness has been caring for the animals at Edmonton Valley Zoo since 2007. As the zoo’s veterinarian, he has an extensive background in zoo practices, exotic animals and veterinary education. Ness was honoured by City Council for his outstanding communications skills and his achievement as winner of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association’s Communications Award for 2012, which recognizes individuals whose activities enhance the image of veterinarians.
